Welcome to our quarterly updates on the Portworx container data management platform. While we regularly introduce notable new features for Kubernetes storage, backup, disaster recovery, and databases, we want to highlight key capabilities you may have missed, and recap those that have been particularly valuable for our customers.
As always, we regularly ship new features to enhance usability and reliability of the Portworx Platform. However, over the past few months, a few key themes stand out:
- Increased speed and performance: For modern, data-driven workloads like AI/ML, low latency is critical. Over the past few weeks, we’ve included expanded PX-Store v2 support for high I/O workloads, and integrated faster performance with simpler networking when Portworx storage is combined with FlashArray or FlashBlade.
- Ecosystems and tooling: Portworx provides broad support for Kubernetes, storage, and DevOps tooling – this is key to delivering the flexibility and data portability that today’s enterprise data clouds demand. We’ve extended support for more Linux distributions, while automating backup operations with Ansible.
- Enterprise readiness: Portworx is purpose-built, container-native data management for enterprise environments. In this update, we’re recapping our SOC 2 compliance, along with enhanced controls and multi-tenancy at scale. We’ve also focused on increasing uptime and ensuring Portworx can automate and protect structured data at scale with minimal disruptions, including parallel backup workflows, and expanded resilience and scalability for Redis databases on Kubernetes.
SOC 2 Certification
In case you missed it, Portworx is SOC 2 certified! This certification represents our commitment to best practices for securely and reliably handling our customers’ data. For a copy of the report, please reach out to your Portworx or Pure Storage contact.
Kubernetes Storage
Kubernetes storage today needs to be more than just persistent storage for applications. Storage with Portworx Enterprise is a flexible, high-performance solution capable of scaling to meet demanding workloads.
Faster performance, on more Kubernetes platforms
PX-StoreV2 is our data store optimized for high I/O workloads on NVMe devices. With our latest enhancements, teams can take full advantage of PX-StoreV2 on Azure AKS, Google GKE, Anthos and OpenShift on vSphere, and Anthos and OpenShift on FlashArray Cloud Drives. These updates ensure that organizations can achieve the performance, scalability, and resilience needed for modern cloud-native applications, anywhere. To get started with PX-StoreV2 in your environment, reach out to your Portworx contacts.
Secure, Accelerated Workloads for FlashArray Direct Access with encryption and NVMe over TCP
Portworx now integrates more tightly with FlashArray, enhancing performance and security. Portworx Enterprise now supports FlashArray Direct Access (FADA) volume encryption at rest and in transit, ensuring seamless data protection across multiple FlashArrays with consistent encryption key management.
With NVMe over TCP support for FADA, customers now have higher performance, lower latency storage access, These enhancements allow platform teams to take full advantage of FlashArray’s efficiency and resilience for modern Kubernetes workloads. To get started, read our guide online.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
Automated data protection and business continuity are essential for protecting cloud-native applications from data loss, corruption, and downtime. In the latest releases of Portworx Backup, we’ve made it easier and faster to safeguard data on Kubernetes. New capabilities include Ansible collection for automated backup workflows, as well as parallel backup schedules to ensure that an automated scheduled backup occurs even if a previous backup was incomplete. Reliable backup schedules mean your team doesn’t miss SLAs or suffer from extended data loss.
Additionally, the introduction of secure SMTP and custom certificates introduces more safeguards, providing higher security for enterprise container workloads. New installation and upgrade health checks allow you to get started with protecting your Kubernetes data, faster.
Data Services
Portworx Data Services is a database platform that enables platform engineering teams to enable developer self-service to databases like PostGreSQL, MongoDB, and Kafka (and more), provisioning in minutes with integrated storage and backup.
The latest updates to Portworx Data Services (v.2025.01.01 and v.2025.03.01) enable more resilient, high availability Redis deployments with Redis Cluster and Redis Sentinel. We’ve also updated the supported versions for all databases supported by Portworx Data Services. Along with previously-expanded controls for organizations and projects, these features allow Portworx to accelerate database deployments, deliver data resiliency, and streamline operations, all with enterprise security and controls.
