Portworx Enterprise 3.4 is now generally available, bringing advancements in data management for modern virtualization and enhancing your cloud-native environment. Building on the foundation laid in Portworx Enterprise 3.3, where many of these features were introduced in Early Access, this release delivers robust capabilities for running virtual machines within Kubernetes and a suite of other powerful features for platform engineers and DevOps professionals.
With Portworx Enterprise 3.4, we are pleased to announce the general availability of enhanced support for KubeVirt, facilitating the migration of VMs into your Kubernetes environment.
KubeVirt Related Features:
- PX RWX Block Volumes (GA): Utilize Portworx ReadWriteMany (RWX) block volumes for your KubeVirt VMs providing shared access to data, enabling live migration of VMs across Kubernetes clusters.
- Metro DR Support for Kubevirt: Extend your disaster recovery capabilities to KubeVirt VMs running on OpenShift, helping ensure business continuity with zero data loss (RPO = 0) for your critical VM workloads.
- Support for SUSE Virtualization (Early Access): PX RWX block volumes are now available for SUSE Virtualization delivering shared block storage for KubeVirt VMs. This enables seamless VM live migration and improved availability within SUSE Virtualization environments.
In addition to our advancements for KubeVirt, Portworx Enterprise 3.4 introduces a range of new and enhanced features to further empower your platform engineers and DevOps professionals:
- PX Flexpool (GA): Experience enhanced pool capacity management with simplified expansion through disk resizing.
- Custom Pool Labels at Install Time: Supports the labeling of local drives during installation, streamlining volume placement and simplifying storage configuration.
- Pool Drain: Enables moving all volume replicas from a set of pools or nodes to other pools or nodes in the cluster.
- Journal IO Profile Everywhere (GA): Benefit from extended journal device setup and IO profiling to PX-StoreV2, delivering improved performance, particularly for demanding database applications.
- vSphere Credential Validation: Enhance security and simplify setup with a new feature that validates vSphere credentials before they are stored.
- Cloud Snapshots for FlashArray Direct Access (FADA) Volumes (GA): Ensure robust data protection for your critical FlashArray data with CloudSnap backup and restore capabilities for FlashArray-as-a-Drive (FADA) volumes.
- Workload Identity Support for AWS: Securely access AWS services for cloud-drives and CloudSnaps using Web Identity Credentials (IRSA/IAM roles), simplifying access management and enhancing security.
- OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.19 Support: Ensuring seamless integration with your OpenShift environment.
